Jersey finger
Does a normal X-ray reassure when I cannot actively bend a fingertip?
Author: Dr. Jiwu Chen
Doctor’s answer
No. A jersey finger may involve tendon avulsion without bone. Other joints can still bend. Prompt hand assessment is needed to assess retraction and repair options; avoid forceful gripping while awaiting care.
