Mallet finger
Does a small residual droop after mallet treatment mean failure?
Author: Dr. Jiwu Chen
Doctor’s answer
Not necessarily. Mild extension lag or a dorsal bump may remain without major functional impact. Worsening droop, substantial pain or proximal joint hyperextension warrants reassessment. Avoid forceful self-stretching.
