Patellar tendinopathy treatment
Can patellar tendinopathy be treated with repeated corticosteroid injections?
Author: Dr. Jiwu Chen
Doctor’s answer
Repeated corticosteroid injection around the patellar tendon is not recommended. The patellar tendon bears high jumping and landing loads, and corticosteroids may increase tendon weakening and rupture risk. Treatment usually focuses on load management, quadriceps and hip strengthening, and jump mechanics; persistent cases can be assessed for other options.
