Subacromial pain

Does shoulder impingement syndrome require acromioplasty?

Author: Dr. Jiwu Chen

Doctor’s answer

Most subacromial pain can first be managed with rotator cuff strengthening, scapular stability work, thoracic mobility, and load adjustment. If structured rehabilitation leaves substantial pain and there is subacromial tissue wear, bone spurs, or associated rotator cuff disease, arthroscopic surgery can be assessed.
