Osteochondral lesion of the talus
Can talar lesion area alone determine microfracture treatment?
Author: Dr. Jiwu Chen
Doctor’s answer
No. Depth, cysts, surface integrity, fragment stability and previous treatment matter. Selected small lesions may suit marrow stimulation; deeper or larger defects may need other reconstruction. Instability and alignment also matter, and repair tissue is not equivalent to native hyaline cartilage.
