Wrist condition
Is a bump on the back of the wrist a ganglion cyst, and does it need removal?

Doctor’s answer
It may be a ganglion cyst. A painless cyst that does not affect activity can be observed. Aspiration or surgical removal can be assessed when it causes recurrent pain, limits push-up or racquet activity, compresses a nerve, or creates major cosmetic concern. Other soft-tissue masses and joint disease should be excluded before treatment.
