Hand and Wrist Injuries
After grabbing a jersey, I can't bend the tip of my finger. Why is it important to see a hand surgeon quickly?

Doctor’s answer
This may be a flexor digitorum profundus avulsion, known as 'jersey finger.' Even if other finger joints can bend, this cannot be ruled out. Most patients needing grip function benefit from surgical repair; delays can lead to tendon retraction, complicating treatment.
