Meniscus injury
How should a medial meniscus ramp lesion associated with an ACL rupture be managed?
Author: Dr. Jiwu Chen
Doctor’s answer
A meniscus ramp lesion is a tear at the posterior meniscocapsular junction of the medial meniscus, commonly occurring with acute ACL tears. Because it may be occult from standard anterior portals, posteromedial trans-notch exploration is recommended. Unstable or full-thickness ramp tears typically warrant surgical suture repair to support joint stability, while small, stable partial tears may be managed with debridement, trephination, or repair based on surgical judgment.
