Tendinopathy rehabilitation

Why are isometric exercises commonly included in the early rehabilitation of proximal hamstring tendinopathy?

Author: Dr. Jiwu Chen

Doctor’s answer

Proximal hamstring tendinopathy is sensitive to tensile and compressive loading against the ischial tuberosity at higher hip flexion angles. Early rehabilitation often incorporates gentle isometric contractions in minimal hip flexion (such as low-flexion bridge holds) as a well-tolerated method to introduce tendon load before gradually progressing to heavy slow resistance and dynamic loading based on individual symptom response.
